We knew we needed to find a Photographer, and fast. Rae was excited to work with us and had no issue taking us on with such a short timeframe. We had multiple meetings with her where she was very helpful and outlined the whole process. She was always very responsive to our questions and gave great advice about our wedding. She was very flexible when our elopement turned into an intimate wedding. We also cannot leave a review without mentioning the photos which are absolutely stunning. She delivered more photos than we were expecting at a very fair price and we will treasure these timeless photos for our whole lives. If you’re looking to elope in mother nature I would not hesitate to reach out to Rae to cover your photos." Couple: Owen + Elizabeth LET'S PLAN AN EPIC ADVENTURE TOGETHER! I'M ALL IN!

  • HOW TO ELOPE | Rae Ann Photo

Rae Ann Photo's how to elope guide where you'll find information on all things elopements and adventure weddings. HOW TO ELOPE AN ELOPEMENT DAY FOR UNCONVENTIONAL LOVERS I'm here to tell you that your wedding day does not have to fit into one box! This is your day to celebrate however you want and is less traditional than normal bigger weddings without all that extra added stress. You're probably here because you've thought long and hard and that's just not your vibe! I'm here to document your love authentically, capturing the essence of your relationship and connection to one another. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO ELOPE? ELOPEMENTS ARE AN INTENTIONAL WAY OF GETTING MARRIED! FORGET ALL THAT RUNNING AWAY BS!! THIS IS ALL ABOUT YOU. With elopements the main focus is YOU but you can absolutely invite your friends and family to come along on your adventure. It's a way of celebrating your love in a meaningful way that reflects your relationship together! No need to stress over finding the perfect arrangement for tables or cutting back on how many guests you'll need to invite. IT'S ABOUT CELEBRATING IN A WAY THAT FEELS LIKE YOU! e·lope [əˈlōp] Celebrating your marriage in an intimate, personal way thats 100% authentic to you. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW TO ELOPE + HOW DO WE LEGALLY ELOPE? APPLICATION Many US states require and application for a marriage license in person at a county clerk's office. DOCUMENTS For this you'll need as a valid driver's license, passport, or birth certificate. FEES The fee for getting a marriage license, depends on which state and county you're getting married in. WAITING PERIOD Some US states have a waiting period between when the license is issued and can range from 24 hours to several days or not at all! SELF-SOLEMNIZATION Some states like Pennsylvania and Colorado allow couples to officiate their own marriage without an officiant. WITNESS This varies from state to state. Most states require 2 witnesses but some don't require them. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Marriage licenses are typically valid between 20 to 80 days, during which you will have your ceremony and then return the license to be recorded. + WHERE SHOULD WE CHOOSE TO ELOPE? The first thing I'll tell you to do is do this simple exercise of envisioning where you're standing to say your vows. Are you at the ocean, on top of a mountain, in the woods? From there you can decide which season you'd like to elope. New England has all 4 but Summer-Fall is the most popular! If you don't have a date set yet, that's ok! Most of my couples don't know their date yet when they inquire with me but we'll figure that out, don't worry! + DO WE NEED WITNESSES FOR OUR ELOPEMENT? This will depend on which state you're getting married in. Vermont + New Hampshire do not require witnesses while Maine requires at least 2. + WHAT GOES ON DURING AN ELOPEMENT? Elopements are very similar in structure to a wedding day but are looser! Your day could start out enjoying the morning, going on a walk and spending time together. From there you will get ready either together or separately depending on your preferences. From there you can choose to have a first look (or not!) and then you'll have your ceremony. If you're hiking, make sure to factor in hiking time into your day! After your ceremony and vows we'll dive into couples photos which typically happens around sunset or sunrise depending on your timeline. + DO WE NEED AN OFFICIANT? Yes! In most US states you can get married by a religious figure, judge, justice of the peace, or someone ordained to perform weddings. ADVENTURE WEDDING IDEAS 1. GO SKIING OR SNOWBOARDING 3. GO BACKPACKING 2. HIKE A MOUNTAIN TOGETHER 4. GO OFF-ROADING 5. GO KAYAKING 6. HAVE A PICNIC 7. RIDE IN A HOT AIR BALLOON 8. YOUR ULTIMATE GUIDE FOR CHOOSING THE BEST PLACE TO ELOPE IF YOU COULD ELOPE ANYWHERE! WHERE WOULD YOU GO? When picturing your ideal location to elope - do you see yourself saying your vows on top of a mountain, in a dense forest, by the ocean or in the desert? The options are endless when it comes to choosing where you say your "I dos". There are so many stunning locations to pick from for your adventure elopement that it's hard to decide on just one. Where you decide to elope should be a place that is true to you and reflect who you both are as a couple! That's where I come in. I'll help you choose the perfect location that fits your vision! I'M READY! EXPLORE MY FAVORITE LOCATIONS - NEW ENGLAND - ELOPE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE CLICK HERE ELOPE IN MAINE CLICK HERE ELOPE IN VERMONT CLICK HERE ELOPE IN NEW YORK STATE CLICK HERE TOP THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING YOUR ELOPEMENT LOCATION THE LANDSCAPE When choosing an elopement location think about the type of landscape you want including mountains, beaches, forests or desert views. The backdrop you choose should reflect you as a couple! QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF What type of scenery inspires you? Where do you want to be when yo u say "I Do" Where do you feel your most happiest? THE MEANING When choosing your elopement location consider places that hold meaning to you and your partner. This could look like where you had your first date, a favorite vacation spot, or a place you've always dreamed of visiting together. QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF Do you have a location in mind that holds meaning to you as a couple? Where have you always wanted to visit together? Do you want to keep your elopement close to home? If this is meaningful to you then absolutely do it! TIME OF YEAR If you have a few favorite seasons like I do it can make it hard to narrow it down to just one. To help with this, make a list of activities you'd like to do together during your elopement. If you love skiing, you might want to think about a Winter elopement. If you love water and summer acitivities you might want to consider a Summer elopement. QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF What season do you feel most comfortable in? Do you have any specific activities you'd like to do during your elopement? ACCESSIBILITY Think about how accessible your location will need to be for you and your guests (if any) to get to your location. Also consider if you will need to drive to and from locations as well as accommodations for you and your guests. QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF Do you want your elopement to include stunning views? Are you wanting to hike for your elopement, if so how far? If inviting guests, do any of them need easy accessible access to locations? Will you need transportation? (some locations might require a 4x4 vehicle, helicopter, boat, gondola etc.) How far are you willing to travel from the nearest airport? PRIVACY + INTIMACY To ensure your location offers the intimacy you need to be comfortable think about if you want a hidden location over somewhere that's more popular. Some places can get super crowded especially in National Parks and high traffic trails. QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF Do you value being in a private location as opposed to a public location? -USA - TOP LOCATIONS TO ELOPE OUT WEST Are you dreaming of eloping in the mountains of Colorado or perhaps, saying your vows on the beaches of California.
